HISTORICAL REVIEW
THE BEGINNING The inception of ICTC (Inner City Tennis Club) was consummated in the Fall of 1982 by a group of young adults who wanted to channel their competitive spirit in a productive direction. Most had not played tennis until well into their early adult life but found their raw talents very adept to the game of tennis. It was this personal revelation that made them wonder just how many other young adults and children were "missing out" by not being exposed to the game. The first tournament was held under the auspices of Black Festival Tennis Tournament in 1978. As time evolved, the name was changed to Inner City Tennis Tournament. THE PURPOSE It is the purpose of ICTC to bring tennis and the community together in a competitive spirit. It is our purpose to build character and a strong sense of fair play. It is the aim of this Club to understand and administrate all the rules of tennis. SOUTHEAST TEAM PLAY ICTC is a member of a southeastern amateur team circuit that provides tough competition. Currently, we compete against teams from Columbia, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Greenville, Winston Salem, Charleston, and Savannah. We are currently a member of Rainbow Tennis League ICTC team members also travel to Mobile, Tallahassee, Gainesville, and Atlanta during the year to participate in various tournaments. SKILL DRILLS ICTC members are dedicated to improving skills through exercise, and practicing designated drills under the direction of the team coach. FUTURE GOALS ICTC hopes to incorporate in its program, clinics for elderly adults (Golden Age Clinics). It is also our desire to include more teams in our circuit and continue to strengthen and foster a stronger tennis program for young adults. ICTC's name has changed to Inner City Tennis Association (ICTA), effective April 22, 1999. We are a non-profit organization
